CR to extend Goa, Shirdi weekend special trains

MUMBAI: Weekend special trains, started recently by Central Railway (CR) to Goa and Shirdi on a trial basis, have been extended due to heavy demand. They have found favour with commuters wanting to get away at the end of a hard week, as the trains take less time compared to other means of transport. Moreover, one can be back on Monday morning.
“There have been only four trips to Shirdi so far, but CR has earned Rs 5 lakh. The train to Madgaon which leaves on Friday night and takes around 9 hours to reach, has made 20 trips adding Rs 40 lakh to the Indian Railways kitty,” said CR’s chief PRO, S C Mudgerikar.
